B4 Lamb is a blend of critical nutrients specifically designed for breeding ewes in the last trimester of pregnancy.

The product is designed to aid increased utilisation of  key nutrients , particularly calcium and magnesium, and stimulate smooth muscle function. Blended to maximise the uptake of other critical elements during late pregnancy. This product can also  maximise livestock production by helping to reduce the impacts of sub clinical and clinical metabolic diseases such as hypocalcaemia and hypomagnesaemia. Ideally this product will be fed as an ad lib supplement to pregnant ewes, along with the supply of good quality, palatable cereal hay preferably Oaten hay.

If grain feeding ewes late in pregnancy, we recommend the addition of EDGE 40 NMR Pelletat the rate of 40 kg per tonne of grain. B4 Lamb is best fed as a free choice supplement. Once lactation begins B4 Lamb can also be fed through to weaning, make sure to allocate supplements that influence bodyweight loss during lactation particularly during dry periods. Under these conditions bodyweight and condition score issues must be addressed and the target for body condition scoring is ideal at 4-5.

Drenching ewes with vitamin E prior to starting to feed B4 Lamb is also a vital part of any pre lambing strategy, adding to smooth muscle ability and helping maintain antioxidant levels.
Pastures or other feeds high in total potassium can be problematic to the lambing ewe, particularly highly fertilised pastures or feed crops, barley , Oats etc. B4 lamb is designed to help the ewe overcome these problems and once again, a good quality cereal hay should also be fed on a free choice basis.

Most Compass Feeds products are compatible with B4Lamb,however, B4lamb should be fed on it’s own and not in competition with any other free choice supplement. Once lambing has ceased B4 lamb can still be used as a free choice supplement right up to weaning. If a grain supplement is required for post lambing to aid the lactating ewe, Compass Feeds recommends the use of EDGE 40 NMR Pellet as an ideal grain buffer.
